About Massimiliano Cosi
I’m an Italian filmmaker and visual artist working between cinema, audiovisual installation and experimental narrative forms.
More then ten years ago I founded Bloodynose, an independent audiovisual collective through which I directed commercials, music videos and hybrid visual projects presented across festivals, live performances, and immersive contexts.
My work explores memory, ritual, landscape, and the relationship between image and space, often through contemplative and site-specific cinematic experiences. I’m particularly interested in the language of the visual poem, combining documentary sensitivity with a more symbolic and sensory approach to storytelling.
The visual research behind this vision is deeply influenced by the cinema of Andrei Tarkovsky and Terrence Malick, especially in the use of natural light, duration, silence, and spiritual tension within the image. I often work with anamorphic cinematography and tactile visual textures, searching for a suspended and timeless perception of reality.
Recent projects include Formosus (2020), an audiovisual film-installation distributed internationally on Amazon Prime Video and Chili, awarded and screened in festivals including the Brooklyn Film Festival and the Next Generation Short Film Festival.
